I've had my new microwave for three weeks. So far I love it. Easy to use. Food is heated as I needed. Used the potato button yesterday and it was great. This is my second GE microwave. My first just died one day after 14 years. My appliance company recommended this model and it was on sale, so even better. I recommend dealing with a local appliance store as they kept records my previous purchases and knew what would fit in my kitchen. Their prices were better than the big box stores. I've been doing business with the same local store for 40 years and they have been great. They service their products too.

I was grateful when my previous microwave oven stopped working that I was able to purchase one of the same models and so conveniently at Nebraska Furniture Mart. I was very disappointed however that my old one broke down in less than 5 years and within 2 weeks of its original purchase. Years ago, when you purchased an appliances, they worked forever. Now, from what I understand companies build them to work until the warranties wear out or before. It's a marketing technique to keep customers buying new appliances. This causes one to lose trust in a company. When I built my new home in 2006 we purchased all GE appliances. I've had to buy 3 microwaves since 2006. Can you please explain this.

Easy features and functionality

We had to replace our microwave with the updated microwave of our previous microwave. Our previous GE microwave lasted us 20 years. That is unheard of today with most appliances. We are thrilled with our purchase, as it easy to use and has a few updated functions. Also, my 68 year old husband installed it all by himself and said it ™€œ was not difficult except possibly needing someone to assist with lifting and holding it in place as he installed it. ™€œ I love the gray interior also.

Where's my new microwave?

The back vent is warped. First time installed I had ice in microwave the next day. They sent new installers who re-install it. Vent was all warped. Used my old microwave vent to install temporarily. Repair person came a week later and confirmed that we needed a new vent. New vent came and installer said it is warped and there is nothing he can do and left my old microwave vent attached. So....where is my new microwave????

We have had this unit for about a month. It is a bit noisier than our previous microwave. Capacity is good, function buttons are ok. No auto veggie cook option, which I prefer. Door function could be smoother and a bit loud to open and close. Surface light is very dim! Needs to be much brighter! Much Brighter! Fan is good but again, quite loud. Our previous unit spoiled us.

The first unit was extremely noisy and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, the replacement is already getting noisier over time. Build quality feels cheap and lightweight, nothing like the solid, quiet GE appliances I™€™ve owned in the past. It works, but the increasing noise and poor build quality are disappointing. This is not the GE standard I expected.

Easy Install, Good First Impressions

The installation was easy and straight forward. It's unfortunate there isn't a standard for all microwaves for the mounting plate and the hole pattern for the screws through the cabinet above. I have used the microwave twice now, so these are first impressions, and I don't have enough experience to write a well-thought-out review. The large interior is all usable. Other manufacturers use a much smaller 12" turntable; this GE unit is 14.2" and cleverly makes space for the extra-sized turntable (bigger on the inside ;). At the end of the day, a bigger cavity is far less useful if the turntable is tiny. There are two reasons I didn't give it five stars. First, the handle is flat on the back and is just not comfortable in the hand. I suppose that the thinner flat handle protrudes less, but I'll take another 3/8" or so to make the handle rounder. Second, it would be nice if the keypad were rear-lit so I don't have to turn on the kitchen lights.

Replaced a GE Advantium microwave which I had for 24 years. I love the Advantium which GE no longer makes. Replaced it yesterday with regular over-the-counter GE microwave. Had to have an electrician replaced a four prong 240/220 outlet with a standard 120 properly grounded three prong outlet. Looks great-so far so good. I hope it lasts another 24 years.

Long time GE Appliance Owner - Disappointed!

Very disappointed with the overall quality of the exterior and interior of this microwave. I was told by the GE person that this microwave would have the same nice blue enamel type interior as the unit being replaced after 10 years. The new microwave has some kind of gray finish. Also, the handle on this microwave seems like plastic and cheap and actually distorts when you hold it with your hand. The unit replaced had a nice metal handle that felt sturdy. Also, when the microwave door is closed, it sounds loud and flimsy. Very disappointed!

I am absolutely furious that there was now Owner's Manual included. There was a twelve page Quick Sheet of information about what you would not cover, CYA! The last time I bought a GE, the Owner's Manual was WONDERFUL and answered every question that could have come up for a new microwave. THIS LACK OF SERVICE or CARE for CUSTOMERS is ABSURD!
