Grinds wheat into flour

You can see by the example picture, the flour has a long way to fall. I stacked a large bowl upside down, then a smaller bowl right side up to catch the flour. I needed to hold it from tipping. Breathing in lots of flour is not a good thing. It would be nice if there were a funnel that took the flour into the bowl attached in place on the mixer. That being said, it grinds wheat into flour as fine as any store bought flour. Very impressive!

I've always wanted to try making bread with very fresh grain. I expected the "process" of milling to be a bit of a chore but this attachment with the power of the base - wow ! Instant. And the bread was incredible. This is a wonderful investment.

I use this mill to grind my home grown flint and flour corns as well as sometimes grinding oats or rye. It could not be easier to attach it, pour the grain in and switch it on. Using fresh grain makes a world of difference in the final flavor of the meal.

I bought this and was very disappointed. Waste of money. I used it to grind rice flour and not only did it heat my mixer up so badly that the gears were destroyed but the flour I grinded on the finest setting came out like granules and not powdery like flour. The granules will not absorb the water and make a paste. I have now replace my mixer with a kitchenaid commercial 8 qt mixer because I didn't want a problem with over heating again. I have not used the grain mill again though. I do have also a kitchenaid food processor and love it. It is a beautiful appliance on the counter and well thought out and designed.

So far I love my grinder. I've read the other reviews so I guess time will tell if it burns out my mixer. But for the moment it is great! I have one question, I have the professional HD and when I use me grinder it is too close to my mixer to set a bowl under it to catch my flour, but too far away to set a bowl in the mixer to catch the flour as it comes out, do you have a bowl designed specifically for catching the flour? I have to stand and hold a bowl under the grinder and catch my flour. That's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5!

I really love the grain mill. it does its job i want to make spelt grain bread and noodles and other assorted grinding tasks. the mill is great Mixer #1 was a costco 475 WATT motor worked great till i made 6 loaves of bread and then the machine got hot and the worm drive failed... so i ordered a new 7 quart model and thought my grinding will be pure bliss... of course Kitchen aid lady on the phone insisted on free shipping which meant that the box took over a month to arrive... well finally yesterday it arrived... i attached the Grain Mill Attachment ... was a little jiggly but so was the first smaller mixer... i did notice the thumb screw on the 7 quart had a pointy tip and the knob was shiny smooth and didnt feel like i could get it tight as i would like but i made it tight as i could without using vise grips or channel locks ... loaded up with spelt and slid the lever to 10 for Fast speed. Man oh man it was smoth steady and much quieter than the little mixer, the Mill did a great job as i expected... so i started moving around the kitchen to prepare some other items while the grinder worked the first hopper load for me... dream come true.... then BANG... CRASH ... I turn around and see the mill on the floor, grain and flour All over the floor and the counter and unimaginable places, and the little flapper that covers the attachment drive port was on the floor.... end of joy and happiness.But, Not the blame of the Grinder itself. so I closely examined the parts and see that the tip on the thumb screw is quite pointed, while the divot on the attachment is more rounded, and when i re-attached it and jiggled it i see the screw will start loosening, so i think there may be a solution with a better thumb screw perhaps larger with knurling to allow for a better non slip grip to tighten better, and the tip of the threaded end shaped to be compatible with the divot on the implement.As for the little flapper cover, i was able to push in at an angle and twisted it back on and it seems fixed. The attachment is great for its purpose does a fine job, i loved my flour. better for me to have the counter space not taken by an additional flour mill. it is a little slow to gring but sometimes we need to slow down a bit and smell the roses along the way dollar for dollar i give it 2 thumbs up....

I bought this grain mill two years ago, I used it very little to grind spices, rice salt (popcorn). I also have a meat grinder. The problem with the grain mill is, it doesn't sit properly in the mixer opening, I have the kitchenAid 7qt 1.3HP mixer. I didn't pay attention when I first go it that it didn't sit properly in the mixer i.e. fully insert in the mixer opening. One time it came out during grinding of spices (don't recall what king of spices it was) but no damage was done, I thought I didn't tighten the thumb screw enough so I did not pay attention. Last month it came out again but this time the pin on the side of the mill that goes into the mixer broke off, the base of the mill where the pin is inserted also broke off. After inspecting the grinder mill I realised that the grain mill was never seated properly in the mixer. The prove was the meat grinder. I measured the O.D. with a caliper and the grain mill O.D. is .9455in compare to .9340in on the meat grinder. That difference was preventing the grain mill to be fully inserted in the mixer. Also the thumb screw on the side of the mixer couldn't hold the grain mill in place because the hole in the grain mill never aligned with the hole on the mixer since it was so far out of the mixer. So I am out of warranty for a manufacturing defect that started on day one. Thank you KitchenAid for your poor design.

Grain mill shreaded gears in Mixer

We bought the grain mill a nine months ago, and used it with our mixer. We had no issues with the mixer before, now the mixer has a gear inside that has been replaced twice. All we grind is rice for flour. We pause the machine during grinding to prevent overheating the mixer. I guess it may work fine with other grains, we have not tried. Look at reviews on other websites regarding this product. It may look nice and shiny out of the box, but it could kill your mixer over time.

It takes a little longer when on the finest grind setting when I did winter wheat but that is understandable. Gets a little warm from the friction but the flour turned out great. The manual said that it would be a little more coarse than conventional flour because they sift out the berries but I could even tell when I compared the two.

The spline end was not machined properly, did not fit. The replacement was close to the same and wobbled. Does not grind corn well at all. Do not know how so few working parts could clog, but it did at the "flour" end. Yes, the corn was dry. Perhaps the auger could be more pronounce to help with emptying? Very frustrating so out came the hand crank mill which worked better.

Almost Burned Out My KitchenAid Mixer

I just received my KitchenAid grain mill in the mail today and was very excited to try it out. First of all, the grain mill itself is a very solid product (except for the screwdriver on the back of the cleaning brush). To try out my new grain mill, I poured about a pound of buckwheat into the hopper, turned the dial all the way to the three small dots for extra fine and started the mixer on 10. The mixer barely turned the grain mill, but there was flour coming out, so I kept it running. Within a few minutes, the mixer came to a complete standstill. I instantly turned it off, but still had smoke coming out of it. A new product should not burn out my KitchenAid mixer! Once I let it cool off, I turned the dial two steps away from extra-fine and tried again. Now the mixer turned the grain mill just fine and I was able to finish my pound of buckwheat. Not sure whether I should buy an old used KitchenAid machine for my grain mill, so I don't ruin my nice one. Or buy a separate grain mill.

I bought this over 6 months ago and have been extremely pleased. The machine is easy to operate. My family has enjoyed all of the freshly made breads, pancakes, waffles, pies, and cakes that I have made grinding grain with this machine. The dial gives ample options for the fineness of the grain from very fine to coarse. Clean-up takes just a little time and effort, but you don't have to wash it each time, so it's no problem whatsoever. The process itself is loud, but that is to be expected. It is more quiet than the coffee grinders my parents' use to use. The flavors from freshly ground grain have been superior.

amazing! i bought a 25kg of wheat to make my flour (23$), i put it twin into the grain mill to get it finest, after i sift it twice and it makes an amazing flour. It takes about 20 minutes for 2 cups of grains (speed 8) to become 2.5 cups of sifted flour and 1.5 cup of bran. For the bread recipes , i just add 30-60ml of sugar to help it to raise.

My brother in law gave me this mill many years ago. We bake all of our breads and so we bought some hard red winter wheat and voila, flour. The mill is easy to clean and is as dependable as the rain here in NW Oregon. We grind flour and make all our baked goods about once a week and have been doing so for about 5 years. It connects to the Kitchenaid in a few seconds and is always ready to mill flour. I run it on 7 and by the time I have all the rest of the bread ingredients out and measured, the flour is done.

I have several Kitchen aid products, the double oven Selectra Suprebra which I love the convection oven. It works well when baking and roasting. I have the Kitchen aid dishwasher that clean very well. I must say that the products I just mention are over 10 years. I have the mixer which is over 15 years and works as well as when I pruchased it. I have the single blender which Ilove. The products are durable and sturdy for the years of use. I also have a refrigerator.

I finally bought this in the fall of last year & wonder what took me so long to buy one! I asked serveral friends for recommendations on stand mixers, hands down it was 100% Kitchen Aid! I bought a kitchen Aid Artisian in Gloss Cinnamon! It is beautiful on my kitchen counter! It is the workhorse in my kitchen! It makes triple batches of chocolate chip cookies with ease. I have the mixer with the glass bowl. I ordered & use the stainless steel bowl, as it is easier for me to pickup. I have Osteoarthritis in both hands along with Fibromyalgia. This wonderful mixer has allowed me to keep baking& cooking for small to large groups! I have a Bosch Universal Plus that I love but it is in my pantry as the Kitchen Aid does not have a central column like the Bosch , that I constantly have to scrape down. Do your self or the baker in your life and get a Kitchen Aid!

i bought my mixer 6 months ago and it was one of the best purchase I've ever made. I bake an average of 20 to 30 cakes per year, not to mention the pies and other deserts. my kitchen aid evenly mixes all my ingredients without me having to wonder will there be flour or sodas in parts not blended well. since I've mixed with this mixer my cakes bake a lot better and I give all my praises to my mixer, there is a big difference. this mixer is very durable and a lot more easer to clean than I could have ever imagine. I tell all my friends and family about my purchase and I also carry a photo of my mixer in my smart phone. love it.

I am 55 years old and grew up with homemade crusty Italian loaves of bread. Over many years I tried over and over again to bake my own bread without success. I gave up, until recently when I heard the news about the nasty ingredients going into commercial bread. I decided that being able to bake a loaf of bread should be on my bucket list. My brother gifted me with a Kitchen Aid Mixer and oh...my...gosh! I am now baking beautifully delicious loaves. Thank you Kitchen Aid for making bread baking so easy.

I absolutely love my 4 slot toaster. It is quick clean and so hi tech for a toaster. I get compliments on it from friends and family and the metal outer shell is super classy. The easy to use buttons almost call for me to toast something. Most toasters say you can throw bagels in them but I usually have to smash the bagel fit it in, not with this toaster. Amen!!!! Thank you KitchenAid, I appreciate you.

It is a step up from my last Kitchen Aid and love it. So quiet. My dishes are so clean now. My entire kitchen has new Designer Kitchen Aid appliances. Sad, I am moving and can not take them. New half million dollar homes do not even have this. Sad!

I have always been a baker and used the regular hand mixers till they died. I am so happy with the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer I got for Christmas last year!! My hubby is happy too because I have ventured out from just baking now!! I would love to get all of the attachments and eventually have a Kitchen Aid Kitchen! The only thing I don't like is when I have something "chunky" it sounds like my mixer is going to "jump" off the counter.
