A Real Time Saver!

Submitted by Uphillskier - 9/8/2017

I bought this about a month ago to replace the electric top. More than anything else, the time savings to prepare dinner is awesome. It look great, easy to clean and performs great. My only negative is that I don't like the temperature adjustment for ease of use. I don't care for holding my finger and dragging the digital slide bar. I would have preferred a "touch/tap" style better...think it would be easier and more exacting.

I Do Not Love the Clicking

Submitted by Meg - 8/30/2017

Not in love with the constant clicking and magnetic wave sounds. i would have totally preferred a gas stove over the new next big deal stuff. I bought KitchenAid pots and pans with hopes that the clicking would stop... it didn't. Kind of my only disappointment in the new kitchen.

Awesome Cooktop!

Submitted by MJ - 8/16/2017

This cooktop is awesome! Easy to use and works as it is advertised. Boils water in less than 1 minute. Induction is definitely the way to go! It doesn't cool down quite as fast as I had expected but none the less it cools down way faster than a regular cooktop.

Who needs gas?

Submitted by Dave - 8/3/2017

We are unable to have gas connected to our home so we replaced our electric cooktop with the Kitchenaid 36" induction cooktop. The elements heat up REALLY quickly and cook evenly. There had been some feedback from others that there was a lot of "clicking" underneath the pans, and there is some, but it is very minor and not an issue. Cooks like a champ and cleans up easily. Can't have gas? Who needs it.

Disappointed

Submitted by Indy cook - 7/20/2017

Not happy with this product. From day one it hasn't performed as I was expecting. When cooking, unless the burner is set to over 6 it will not produce consistent heat instead it pulses off an on causing it to take longer to cook. So cooking consistently at a low temperature is not possible. The more burners I use the worse it is. I called customer service thinking it was maybe hooked up wrong or the power was not correct. However they came out and told me that because a cast iron skillet worked it was a problem with my pans. The Caphalon pans I purchased specifically for the cooktop and were some of their top of the line pans. So I contacted Caphalon about the pans and they had not had any issues and asked me to send them in to determine if they were defective and they were not. I also took my pans to a neighbors and tried my pans on their jenn-air induction cooktop and the pans worked like a dream. So after a complete remodel I am stuck with a cooktop I hate. Left more than disappointed. On one positive note I also purchased a Kitchenaid refrigerator and dishwasher that I have been very pleased with.

Scratches

Submitted by John - 7/12/2017

Extremely disappointed. This unit surface scratches just by using it. The glass surface does not appear to be manufactured correctly. Called KitchenAid and they are not willing to do anything. How can a cook top that comes in direct contact with pots scratch so easily? I'm using brand new Al-clad pots.

Great cooktop, awesome performance, poor quality

Submitted by Geronimo - 3/8/2017

I'm sad to say that after 3.75 years this cooktop died. Called local repair shops in Angie's List but none worked on these induction cooktops. Reluctantly called Whirlpool / KitchenAid and they dispatched Diamond Factory Service who I have had very mixed experiences with in the past. Fortunately this tech who was sent was great. The good news - the $680 part is under warranty. The bad news - 2 weeks not being able to use it and $220 of labor that I have to pay for out of pocket. I like Whirlpool/KitchenAid, so much so that everything in my kitchen is KitchenAid except the microwave, but I'm afraid the quality - even since bringing manufacturing back to the US - isn't what it used to be.

Submitted by Unlucky - 2/17/2017

I bought this cooktop in 2014 along with a double oven, downdraft vent and refrigerator for my newly constructed home. The cooktop just suddenly quit working -- does not power on -- was fine one day and dead the next. I have already had to have the ice maker in the freezer and the downdraft vent serviced and am waiting for service for the cooktop. Very disappointed by KitchenAid -- appliances look great but reliability not so much.

Too much clicking!

Submitted by GK - 1/8/2017

Completed a kitchen makeover a few months ago and replaced the electric cooktop with induction. Really like the functionality of induction however we are having a difficult time with the constant clicking noise whenever the burner is being heated. I called the sales representative and he said that there should not be any noise so I placed a warranty service call. The service technician stated that it did appear that the noise was a little louder than what he had seen/heard on past calls regarding his knowledge of this product. He said that he would check with the manufacture and get back with me. After not hearing back from the technician for a few weeks, I called and left a voicemail asking for an update. No response for another week, so I called again. A person answered the call and after hearing my situation, he said he would contact the technician and get back with me. He did get back with me and said that the technician had contacted the manufacturer, Whirlpool and they said that it was working to specifications and therefore no problem. When I asked the person why the sales representative would say that the unit should not be making a clicking noise, he said that he must not have understood how the product works. I'm writing this review out of frustration because we had a dinner party last night and we were asked why was the cooktop making so much noise? Instead of talking about how quickly the unit heats and other benefits of this new technology, we spent time talking about the annoying clicking noise. This is just one of many situations where other people have asked us what is that noise. I read a lot of reviews on this product before the purchase and understood that it would make a little noise, however nowhere near this decibel level. For us, we would not have purchased this product knowing what we now know.

Submitted by sue - 1/6/2017

remodeled my kitchen from a conventional cooktop. Hard to find cookware, center burner not functioning properly (I don't think) and wish the controls had the numbers posted so I could tell what heat range I am choosing. I'm getting used to it but not as easily as I would like. Expensive and now that I had to buy all new expensive cookware, it was more than I bargained for.

Loved it UNTIL...

Submitted by Penny - 12/20/2016

I bought my Kitchenaid induction cooktop in 2009. I loved it until it started turning itself off in the middle of cooking. The repair man from Sears tells me that the fan is working fine, but the electronics that sense heat are malfunctioning. It will cost $1,200 to replace that one part. What?! I could buy a new cooktop for that price. I have a house full of company for Christmas coming in a few days and no working stove. 1).I think an appliance in this price category should last at least ten years or longer. 2). Parts should not be the same price as purchase price of the appliance. Good grief. 3). Sounds like service is a problem with Kitchenaid. Given the quoted repair cost, I probably need to shop for a new cook top. I'm thinking...NOT Kitchenaid, unless they can help me get this fixed for a reasonable price. 4). Products should be designed so they can be affordably repaired. Throwing out an entire cooktop because a part is overpriced is environmentally unsustainable. Shame on you, Kitchenaid! Clearly the part can't actually cost as much as the original price of the cooktop. What's up with that?

36" Induction cooktop

Submitted by carolync - 9/19/2016

I absolutely love my induction cooktop. Faster cooking, precise cooking temperatures and easy cleanup. If you like to cook with gas, then this cooktop would be good for you. It cooks like gas but you don't get the heat from around the pots and easy to keep clean. Smartest thing we ever purchased and would recommend this to anyone. I will never have anything other than an induction cooktop. Submitted by JJ - 9/14/2016

I have had a gas stove for the past 25+ plus years. I just moved to a new home and could not have a gas stove. I researched for the best possible cooktops and I found the KitchenAid Induction Cooktop. It is AWESOME. It cooks so fast and the heat is regulated instantly. I absolutely love it. *Note: I did have to purchase all new pots and pans because they must be stainless steel or iron in order for the cooktop to get hot. However, that was pretty nice, too, to get all new stuff! :)

Superb!

Submitted by Mikemce - 8/26/2016

I live in a neighborhood with no natural gas. I've envied my kids and friends with gas cooktops as I worked with a radiant electric. No more! The rumors are true; water boils quicker; heat is instantly added or removed; and the "simmer" setting keeps food at 140 degrees! (I've never used a gas cooktop that would actually simmer). Only complaint, smallest burner is 7 inches; too large to recognize your smallest pans.

Not worth the money...Very Fragile

Submitted by Charles - 8/9/2016

This product is very fragile. Had a chip on the very edge and after 6 months a crack appeared making the item useless. I typically do not write reviews but we paid a lot of money for this product and when we called Customer Service, the person explained that they do not have service technicians in our area. So basically since we are still in our warranty timeframe we cannot get it serviced. Also that there are no replacement parts for these so we would need to purchase a new unit.

Submitted by mikemce - 8/5/2016

I replaced a 36 inch GE Profile cooktop with the KitchenAid induction cooktop. The installation was easier than I thought. This is much better than the radiant electric type. It is so fast at heating and the temperature settings are so precise it is a joy to use. You especially notice how quickly the heat drops when you turn it down from a high setting to low or simmer.

Submitted by Pat - 7/22/2016

I bought this stove top in April, received it in June..I would never go back to the standard stove top..This induction is the best..You cook with such even heat and everything is much better..very energy sufficient. Just love it..Suggest everyone to get one..

Yes, I recommend this product
