This trash compactor is so much more quiet than my old one . I have trouble pushing the start button. The start button does not respond easily. Overall, it is a good product

This replaced a 31 year old whirlpool compactor that finally was making too much noise. The build quality is noticeably different. The drawer enclosure was faced with cardboard on the sides. For a $1400 appliance, that took me aback. The cardboard was bowed on one side and the switch assembly was sticky, and both had to be replaced out of the box.There are no electronics to speak of, no bells and whistles. We will see how it holds up. I don't need 31 years on this one, but I am concerned with longevity.

I wouldn`t ever buy this again junk own less then two year and it broke in less then a year and just as it was going to be two years it will not even start will never buy any thing that comes from china or were ever this piece of crap came from dont waste your money it to expensive could see if it was less then 50.00 then it might be worth it, I would give it negative 5 stars but it dont give you that option, junk do not buy unless you want to work on it

Our previous Whirlpool trash compactor lasted over 22 years, so we did not hesitate to replace it with another. We've only had it for a couple of weeks and it seems to be working fine. Would give it 5 stars except the buttons to operate are a little hard to push, like there's a gap between the console front and the contact for the button. That may cause the plastic to crack over time.

I bought this on July 30, 2025, and less than a month later the pedal broke. After problems getting a repairman, I had to get a friend to fix it. It, also, does not compact my trash properly. Whirlpool and Lowes have not been any help with this. I am so disappointed in Whirlpool and Lowe's. I have lots of of Whirlpool products and bought lots of products from Lowe's, but I will not do that anymore.

Happy to have a new compactor. But I™™m disappointed that the plunger doesn™™t stay down. My previous one had a stay down weight that truly compacted the waste. This one drops down and then comes back up immediately.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and replaced all of our appliances. We had a Whirlpool compactor before. The new one we just installed is much noisier than the old one. I believe that the previous model had a plastic drive chain or drive gear and the troubleshooting notes say that the noise is due to the metal drive chain and gear. Perhaps the metal parts are more sturdy, but the noise made by this compactor is too loud.

We built a brand new kitchen and butler's pantry. This compactor (MOD GX900QPPS6) was installed in the pantry about six months ago--I've gone through a pack of 12 paper bags since new. My complaints with this unit are the operation is very noisy, the basket release latch is VERY stiff and is nearly impossible to operate, but more importantly, due to the design of the basket, the 'tilt' feature is practically useless since there is no handle to tilt/lift the side of the bin. This is a feature that is a necessity for one to easily remove the side, because due to the texture of the bin's interior, the bag will not release unless the bin is disassembled.
The quality of the machine isn't really an issue for me; it seems to be sturdy and has never failed. Even though the unit is arguably loud during operation, the latch and bag removal truly needs to be redesigned for easier use.

Trash compactors are so great at reducing bags and bags of trash to one. We have used them for 30 years and had to finally replace our old one and it totally pays for itself; plus having a nice looking appliance in the kitchen.

Bought about a month ago, happy with it's quietness but the 'start' button seems recessed and you need to push it hard, our previous Whirlpool did not have that issue but it was noisier!

We purchased this compactor to replce the Kitchen Aid Compactor we've had since we built our home in 1997. we were very pleased with our original compactor and since we heard that Whirlpool purchased Kitchen Aid we thought we would go with a compactor simular to the one originally had. The original compactor had two compacting functions. One was the compact and the other was compact solid. This many not explain it every well, the the new compactor, compact and releases the other we had compacts then we had to push a second button the release it. The one thing we are some what dissatisfied with is the noise. The new we just purchase is very loud.

We purchased the trash compactor over the internet. It arrived and the box was slightly damaged. After removing it from the carton correctly and installing it. The red button knob broke while turning it. Why? We don™™t know. Everything

I purchased this compactor about six months ago from Best Buy, it works fine however I find it cheaply made. I have called for service, as the latch that holds the drawer to the front panel has to be tightened several times a day and I was told that you should not use the handle to open the unit only the pedal. That has been tried you still have to reattach the front panel to the drawer several times a day. This is a very poor design and will never buy another Whirlpool product as you undo not want to rectify the problem.

Bought this compactor as a replacement for one already in place and it's so nice to have it back! Great way to take care of excess trash and it's convenient to all areas in my kitchen so I waste no steps getting rid of unwanted items.

Bought this unit from Brandsmart Jan 2023 with the understanding it would take 7 to 10 weeks to get it. I got it Jun 2023. It was easy to install, looks good however, the drawer rubs the bottom and is very hard to open and close. Had service come out, "said they don't make them like they use to" Would not buy again.

Bought 3 year extended warranty; however compactor was broken within 3 months...an extra 3 months for repairman to follow up that parts needing replacing were not available...another 3 months for replacement compactor!!!! It is made cheaply and I would never recommend it!
